Facts & figures EDM CAE Forum 2019
We have summarized the most important facts about the EDM CAE Forum 2019: key figures, novelties 2019 and a summary of the feedback.
25 years EDM CAE Forum
It should not go unmentioned that the EDM CAE Forum celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. In 1994, the successful series of the forum began, at that time still as CAD/CAM forum in Fellbach. Since then it has generally taken place every two years with a steady growth in lectures, exhibition topics and participants.
Proven and new at the EDM CAE Forum 2019
The proven concept of a two-day event with lectures, an accompanying exhibition and a get-together at the end of the first day of the event was retained in 2019.
The concept change introduced in 2017 had proved its worth and was retained in 2019: Shorter presentations and longer breaks for more time to visit the exhibition and network.
New additions are Guided Tours, short thematic tours through the exhibition between the individual lecture blocks. The 40 or so tours on offer were fully booked and were very well received by visitors, exhibitors and guides.
On the other hand, the paper at the event was discarded: for the first time, there was no longer an event brochure. All information was available to the participants online here.
Participants
At the Digital Product Forum 2022
- 3065 persons participated.
- On Wednesday we counted 1794
- and on Thursday 1271 participants.
- Additionally there were also 2026 online participants in the 3D trade fair.
Lecture programme and exhibition
The forum opened with a presentation on the strategic orientation of Daimler IT (Daimler CIO Jan Brecht), followed by contributions on Engineering IT in the area of Cars (Dr. Siegmar Haasis, Daimler, ITD) and Engineering IT in the area of Daimler Trucks and Buses (Markus Maier, Daimler, ITC/D). Prof. Dr. Thomas Breitling (Daimler, RD/AN) concluded the opening by the management with his contribution "What does the digitalization of development mean?"
"Closer to the customer" and more contributions from and with customers was the declared goal of the project team. And we succeeded in attracting more top speakers from the RD sector: Jasmin Eichler, Head of Daimler Research, Prof. h.c. Klaus Frenzel, on the subject of user experience and Dr. Michael Hafner on vehicle development in a data-driven world.
On the two days a total of 110 lectures were offered in eleven parallel rows, 48 of them from Daimler, 60 from exhibiting suppliers and 2 presentation blocks from Start-up companies.
Registered participants can download the presentation files from the presentation program, provided they are registered and the speakers have approved their contribution for publication.
The exhibition has set a new milestone with 256 (2017: 234) booths. This was made possible by an additional exhibition block with 28 booths. The Daimler stand with 56 booths remained comparable to 2017, so the increase was in the hands of external partners. 200 booths were occupied by 96 partners, with the participation of the individual companies ranging from 1 to 10 booths.
